Position Description
American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc. is a world leader in the manufacture, engineering, validation and design of driveline systems, chassis systems and forged products for trucks, buses, sport utility vehicles, passenger cars, and commercial vehicles. Currently, this Tier One automotive components supplier has an immediate exceptional opportunity for a Supervisor Shipping & Receiving at our Three Rivers, MI facility.
Responsibilities include supervision of material drivers and clerical support. Must be skilled in team building and leadership, problem solving, and have working knowledge of manufacturing/assembly processes and business-related computer systems, quality assurance and Just-in-Time (JIT) scheduling. The successful candidate will have a bachelor degree in a technical area of study, or equivalent training, such as trade or technical education, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, and be willing to work any shift. Experience in the auto industry and / or in a UAW environment a plus.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Responsible for the effective use of personnel, materials and equipment within department.
2. Supervises associates involved with shipping and receiving, plant build schedules and movement of material.
3. Assures adherence to the material pull system process.
4. Provides follow-up assistance in assuring maximum schedule performance.
5. Facilitates the self-directed work group concept.
6. Maintains department records and keeps management informed of developments as they occur.
7. Frequent contact with others outside the work group.
8. Implements safety and good housekeeping standards.
9. Adheres to Corporate policies and procedures.
10. Perform other tasks as required.
Position Requirements
Required minimum skills / education:
1. Bachelor degree or equivalent training.
2. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures as they relate to material flow.
3. High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
4 Good oral and written communication skills.
5. Planning and organizational abilities.
6. High level of analytical ability where problems are complex.
7. Flexible with work hours and available to work off shift as required.
