Rehabilitation Aide

Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager.
Performs designated routine tasks with minimum supervision related to the operation of Rehabilitation Services.
This includes maintenance of the working area, equipment and storage areas; transporting, transferring and setting up patients for treatments; adjusting equipment and assisting in patient care activities as directed by the Rehabilitation Services staff.

Performs designated routine tasks related to the operation of Rehabilitation Services by:
Back-office duties:
Preparing the treatment area, which may include changing linens on treatment tables, cleaning the treatment room or area of unnecessary equipment, placing appropriate equipment in the treatment room and other similar duties.
Assisting patients to and from restrooms if asked.
Assisting with patients during treatment or activities as directed by a Rehabilitation professional.
Front Office duties:
Responsibilities include clerical duties (i.
e.
scheduling patient, answering phones, registration, insurance verification, insurance authorization, faxing , scanning, collecting copays and other similar tasks) as directed by Office coordinator, rehab professional or rehab manager.
Supports the Rehabilitation Department by:
Maintaining a clean and organized working area.
Maintaining an inventory of rehabilitation supplies and equipment; also ordering supplies and equipment as needed or as instructed by a Rehabilitation professional.
Maintaining good working relationships with the Rehabilitation Services staff and other departments throughout the Hospital and Beacon Health and Fitness.
Observing strict patient confidentiality as it applies to information learned during the course of the workday.
Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:
Completing other job-related duties and projects as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESAssociate complies with the following organizational requirements:
Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
Complies with established organization and department policies.
Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and ExperienceThe knowledge, skills and abilities indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Must be a minimum of 17 years of age.
One year of experience in a medical office or patient care setting is preferred.
Previous experience with scheduling, registration, medical insurance preferred.
Knowledge & SkillsDemonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to consistently interact with patients, families, visitors, and staff in a courteous manner and to maintain positive working relationships.
Demonstrates the ability to read at a level necessary to comprehend written procedures dealing with all aspects of the position.
Requires basic office skills (i.
e.
, filing, phone usage, computers and other keyboarding equipment).
Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Must be able to work in fast paced setting with ability for multitasking.
Working ConditionsWorks in a patient care environment requiring physical exertion, frequent changes in job demands, certain undesirable patient care activities and possible exposure to biohazards.
Must be able to work late hours and variable to cover for other Front office staff if needed.
Physical DemandsRequires the physical ability and stamina (i.
e.
, to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, to position/lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, over 35 pounds requires assistance, provide CPR, etc.
) to perform the essential functions of the position.
